Founded in the spring of 1997, Esperanza de Luz is the first competitive program supported by Esperanza Performing Arts Association, Inc. Esperanza de Luz began its rehearsals in October 1997 and started its season in January 1998. In 2000, we added Esperanza de Luz Prep our junior competitive program.

Esperanza de Luz is a competitive winterguard composed of young people under the age of 22. The group uses dance and colorguard equipment choreographed to music and performs throughout Southern California and the United States.

The guard competes locally in the Winterguard Association of Southern California. Esperanza de Luz is the first Independent Winter Guard International Finalist from San Diego County and the only WGI Independent Champion to come from San Diego.
